PAUL O'NEIL, PT, DPT, OCS, CSCS
I am a licensed Doctor of Physical Therapy practicing in Durham, NC, and have been dedicated to helping people get through their acute and chronic conditions since graduating from the University of Pittsburgh in 2014. I work with a wide range of patient populations from those with acute sports injuries to elderly individuals with chronic arthritic conditions. I specialize in providing my patients with active treatments to help them overcome their pain. I am an approved provider of the Graston Technique for soft tissue management of acute and chronic conditions and am also currently progressing through the Maitland series of manual therapy continuing education to help improve my patients as efficiently as possible. I am also an Orthopedic Certified Specialist meaning that I have taken rigorous steps to be certified by the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties to enhance and hone my skills in treating patients. Lastly, I am a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist meaning I know the ins and outs of exercise interventions and can also assist those without any injuries achieve their fitness goals.
Outside of physical therapy I have several past times: Spending time with my wife and our two cats, weight lifting, running, and reading. I am formerly from Pittsburgh, PA and am an avid Pittsburgh and West Virginia University sports fan.
THE "CLINIC"
At O'Neil Physical Therapy, LLC, there is no true permanent clinic that you would traditionally think of. Instead, my "clinic" consists of a portable treatment table, theraband, instruments to do soft tissue work with, and whatever gym equipment we have available. As such, I am able to work with you at a location of your choosing. My preferred location for treatment sessions is the gym at the Liberty Warehouse apartment complex, but I am able to bring my "clinic" to your place of residence (an additional $5 for locations farther than 5 miles away and $10 if farther than 10 miles away). One thing to keep in mind if using the gym at the Liberty Warehouse is that we may not have complete privacy during our session, but there are several secluded spots we could use in the complex's public area if you want privacy while I take your history.
Another significant departure from your normal PT clinic is that my services are provided on a cash-based basis rather than through insurance. What this means to you is that I would be paid out of pocket, provide you with a receipt detailing the services provided, and then you would file a claim to your insurance company for reimbursement. Please see my FAQ for further information on this process and reasons why you should choose this over other traditional clinics.
